Hi! I’m Christina Dennis, GDC: Designer and co-founder of Hearthwood Design + Build alongside my husband Sean, General Contractor. Together, we’re here to help you create the home of your dreams through thoughtful design and expert craftsmanship.
My Design Journey
What started 16 years ago as a passion for creating beautiful, functional homes has evolved into a comprehensive design practice. Along the way, I’ve earned a Diploma in Vocal Performance and a Certificate in Graphic Design, training that’s sharpened my sense of composition, storytelling, and visual harmony. These creative foundations continue to influence how I approach each space: with an artist’s eye, a designer’s practicality, and a deep appreciation for how a home should feel.
Through countless projects I’ve shared on my blog and YouTube channel Cozy DIY Home, I’ve developed an eye for transforming rooms into spaces that truly reflect how you live, balancing beauty with practicality, style with comfort.
My approach focuses on understanding your lifestyle, needs, and vision, then translating that into spaces that feel authentically you. Whether it’s a full home renovation or a single room refresh, I believe every space should tell your story.

Sean Dennis, RSE
Hi! I’m Sean Dennis, RSE: General Contractor and co-founder of Hearthwood Design + Build. With over 25 years of trade experience, I bring a deep understanding of construction to every project. I began my career as a Red Seal endorsed journeyman electrician and transitioned into general contracting, operating my own company—The Greenovator Corp—for the past 16 years.
My General Contracting Journey
At Hearthwood Design + Build, I combine decades of hands-on experience with a passion for high-quality craftsmanship. My background spans residential, commercial, and industrial construction, allowing me to approach every renovation with a well-rounded perspective and a sharp focus on structural integrity, function, and finish.
In recent years, I’ve specialized in developing luxury cabins and lakeside properties, spaces that demand durability, performance, and beauty. The 5-star reviews these vacation rentals have received speak to my commitment to excellence and detail.
I’m proud to work closely with Christina and our clients to bring thoughtful design visions to life, and I’m happy to provide references and examples of completed projects upon request.
